As a Scottish artist it is a great privilege for me to have been offered a solo exhibition of new works inspired by Robert Burns to be held at the poet's birthplace museum in Ayr. Over the years I have produced a number of various painting's inspired by Burns and his poetry and being a painter who likes narrative in my work, Burns conjures a huge source of images for me.

Last year the National Trust for Scotland approached me to use one of my Burns portraits for the cover of their magazine and I was only too happy to oblige. Following this a friend of mine was chatting with the curator of the museum Sean McGlashan and my name was mentioned. One thing led to another and I was offered a solo exhibition to create a body of new works inspired by Burns.

These new painting's and pastel's contain various portrait's of Burns himself as I see him and also how I imagine some of his many lovers and acquaintances looked like. I have leaned heavily on my artistic licence and imagination to produce this exhibition and hopefully pushed some of my own boundaries as an artist to create something new and unique.

For the past 20 years I have been lucky enough to have been able to support myself and family through producing painting's and drawing's and if any of my passion for art comes across to you the viewer then I would consider this show to be a success.

It has been a great experience working in association with the Robert Burns birthplace museum together with the National Trust for Scotland
