Buzzworks Holdings Ltd. Commissioned to produce a large scale oil painting of the ancient “King Malcolm of Scotland” which is now on public display at the “Mill house” in Stewarton, Ayrshire.
A harbour in the tempest
“A harbour in the tempest” Encouraged by Scottish artist Peter Howson OBE to produce this large scale oil inspired by the famous “Raft of the Medusa” painting which hangs in the Louvre museum in Paris.
Buchanan street shoppers
“Buchanan street shoppers” commissioned by a private collector and is now in the private collection of Scottish entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter.
Commissioned in 2013 by North Ayrshire Council to produce a painting to mark the 50th Anniversary of Irvine being officially designated as a Scottish new town and the regeneration and redevelopment of much of the old town. The painting was also produced to portray the influx during this period of the many families from Glasgow and surrounding areas who resettled in Irvine during this period.
Commissioned in 2013 by Bentley Glasgow to stage a major exhibition of new work for display at their main Scottish dealership in Hamilton. A number of new “Automobile inspired” pieces were produced for this show.
Flower Of Scotland
Commissioned in 2012 by “Scottish art direct” to produce a large scale work inspired by Scotland’s so called “Tartan Army”.
The finished painting titled “Flower of Scotland” was unveiled at the Scottish football museum in Hampden park stadium Glasgow attracting national TV, press and radio coverage. It now hangs there and is on view to the public.
William Grant & Sons Ltd.
Commissioned by William Grant & Sons Ltd. to produce a painting along with a statement to be incorporated onto a limited edition of their bottles of Glenfiddich Single Malt Whisky. Graham was invited for a 2 day stay and personal guided tour of the William Grant & Sons Dufftown distillery to gain inspiration for the work.
Bayard Partners Ltd.
Commissioned by Bayard Partners Ltd. , investment fund managers, London to produce a large scale work for their company reception.
Commissioned by “Scottish Opera” to produce 5 large oils depicting all aspects of opera and theatre. These include “Box Office”, “Dance”, “Drama”, “Children’s Theatre” and “Opera”. Images of the finished 5 oils were enlarged and displayed as boardings covering the front exterior of “Theatre Royal” Hope Street, Glasgow.
Commissioned by “Celtic F.C.” to produce a painting to mark the 40th anniversary of their 1967 European Cup winning team known as “The Lisbon Lions”. A limited edition of 300 prints each to carry a certificate signed by Graham McKean along with signatures from all surviving team members. Finished painting presented at Parkhead Stadium to Billy McNeill, 1967 cup winning team captain, attracting national press, TV and radio coverage.
In 2009 a portrait to celebrate the life of the late Michael Jackson received Worldwide press coverage. close friend to Jackson, Mr Uri Geller commented; “McKean’s painting of Michael is a truly fantastic piece and is amazingly powerful”.
In 2011 a new oil painting of the Scottish cartoon character “Oor Wullie” was unveiled at McTears Auctioneers, Glasgow receiving wide acclaim and national press and television coverage. The painting was also favourably received by “Oor Wullie” himself.
